REDEFINE: RETHINKING THE VISUAL LANGUAGE OF THE FEMININE

This series is made up of large to medium abstract, reclaimed objects/mixed media pieces. Found objects and paint cover the canvas’. As the paint covers these reclaimed objects they cease to be the object themselves but a textural element which adds to the composition of the work. The texture is gritty and rough, the colors are subdued in some pieces and intense in others to exhibit duality. The work sets out to make the viewer question what the feminine should be in its visual form. This series redefines the visual language of the feminine.
